The Role of my Government

So we're trying to make things a little better in our neck of the woods. Government (National, State, Local) can be a constructive tool to help in this effort. I like to think of Government like a car. We can use this car to take us in whatever direction we want, but unless the car is functioning properly, we're going NOWHERE. But even when functioning sub-optimally, the effort, length of time, and cost of our journey increases. Being static is only okay if we are exactly where we want to be. Many Americans would argue that America is at best not where she needs to be and at worst heading in the wrong direction. Therefore, let us first focus on fixing our car- let's focus on the role, structure, and effectiveness of the American government (National, State, Local) as a means to equip us to go in the direction of our choice. My future posts will discuss what roles I would like to see for the government and why, and then we will discuss certain big challenges we are facing these days and some solutions for fixing them.
